Absentee ballots now available at city office
CARIBOU, ME — On Feb. 7, 2017, residents of Caribou, Stockholm and Limestone will vote for, or against, a new pre-K-8 school to be located where Teague Park currently stands.
If the school is accepted by voters, Teague Park, the middle school and Learning Center will be demolished and Hilltop will be repurposed into a senior living center.
When asked if they would to go to the new school or stay at Hilltop, a group of eight students all excitedly supported the new building.
Second-grader Nicolas Plourde said he was excited to go to a bigger school, adding that “There’s going to be two gyms.”
“It sounds cool,” said Sadie Roy, who would also rather go to the new school than stay at Hilltop.
“I think it’s gonna be really cool,” said Lindsay Ouellette.
“I think it’s gonna be fun,” said Makenzie Cole.
Xander Jamison said he was most excited about “the bigger gym” space.
Second-grader Serenity LaPlante said she thought it was going to be cool “because there’s going to be showers near the gym and we’ll have an upstairs and downstairs.”
“I think it’s going to be cool, and I’m going to see my brother,” said Lily McCrossin.
Cote Bourgoine said he didn’t know what to expect, adding that he thinks “there’s gonna be 10 janitors.”
