PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Riverside Restaurant was the city’s latest victim of vandalism, suffering two broken windows and two doors in the early morning hours of Friday Jan. 6.
Presque Isle police arrested 30-year-old Jamison O’Neal Monday on charges of criminal mischief and trespass for allegedly breaking doors and windows at the restaurant. According to Presque Isle Police Chief Matt Irwin, O’Neal is a former employee who recently was let go, and was released on $500 bail.
Irwin said the police are also expecting to arrest another individual, 27-year-old Joshua Easler, in connection with the incident.
The restaurant did not appear to have anything stolen, said owner Sandy Collins.
It was virtually unfazed by the damage, opening as usual at 5 a.m. as the windows were covered up and in the midst of repair.
“I didn’t lose anybody. I had all my regulars,” Collins said. “Portland Glass was here ASAP,” she added.
This was the first vandalism incident of the new year in Presque Isle, following several high-profile and high-cost vandalism cases last year, including at Mantle Lake Park and the vacant Crow’s Nest restaurant building.
