Several local squads were busy hosting teams Thursday evening as East Grand, Hodgdon, Katahdin and Houlton were all hosting games. The following is a recap of games played.
Calais girls 54, Houlton 66 — At Houlton Thursday, Houlton junior Kolleen Bouchard poured in a career-best 40 points as Houlton knocked off Calais to remain undefeated. Bouchard also had six assists and six rebounds for the Shiretowners (8-0). Makayla Watson chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Sydney Farrar paced Calais (7-3) with 17 points. Lauren Cook scored 15 and Faith Tirrell and Olivia Huckins 10 apiece.
The Shires led 20-12, 33-32 and 45-40 at the quarter breaks before pulling away in the final period.
Shead girls 63, East Grand 40 — At Danforth, Sarah Stoddard poured in 20 points for East Grand in the loss. Haleigh Shay added nine for the Vikings.
Holly Preston netted 26 points for Shead of Eastport, while Cassidy Wilder scored 16 points and Kaitlyn Mitchell 13.
Shead led 19-6, 37-14 and 52-29 at the quarter breaks.
Southern Aroostook girls 60, Hodgdon 24 — At Hodgdon, the Warriors improved to 8-0 on the season with the win over Hodgdon. Makaelyn Porter had 12 points for the Warriors, while Sydney Brewer chipped in 11.
Kora Lambert led Hodgdon with eight points.
Penobscot Valley girls 48, Katahdin 33 — At Stacyville Thursday, Katahdin senior Georgia Landry netted 16 points in the loss to Penobscot Valley. Elizabeth McKinnon tallied 21 points to lead the Howlers, while Alexis Ireland chipped in 13.
Shead boys 58, East Grand 35 — The Viking boys fell to Shead Thursday evening to drop to 1-9 on the year. Shead improved to 5-5. Individual results were not reported.
