Earlier this month, Katahdin Trust Company presented a $600 contribution to the team to purchase the new balls as well as pinneys for scrimmaging. Volunteer head coach Brian Hamel said, “We are very appreciative of Katahdin Trust Company’s generosity in funding the purchase of much needed new basketballs and pinney jerseys for the Snowdogs. When generous donors like KTC step forward to recognize the efforts of our Special Olympian athletes it boosts their confidence level knowing members of our community are supporting their efforts on and off the basketball court.” Goals of Special Olympics include providing year-round sports training and athletic competition for those with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
