HOULTON, ME — The Houlton Council of Catholic Women met in the Parish Center on Jan. 2, 2017 for their monthly meeting.
There were 10 members and our moderator, Fr. Dave, present. After our opening prayers, hymn and salute to the flag and the cross, we enjoyed our refreshments.
President Sue Hardy called the meeting to order. Mary Grant, treasurer, read the minutes of the Dec. 5, 2016 meeting, and gave the treasurer’s report. Corresponding secretary Alta Reardon read thank-you notes.
Members voted to continue the wreath raffle again for 2017.
President Sue Hardy expressed interest in attending the April meeting of MDCCW and three other members were also interested in attending.
HCCW will continue to place an ad in the St. Mary’s church bulletin, and will also sponsor a youth wishing to attend the March for Life in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 26-28, 2017.
At the February meeting, members will pack Valentine bags for shut-ins. Members are asked to bring goodies for the bags.
Sue Hardy updated us on the Parish Council meeting.
Birthdays were recognized. There were no anniversaries. Kathy Klein won the door prize.
Prayer requests were gathered and we recited five Hail Mary’s.
The meeting adjourned. The next meeting will be on February 6, 2017. All Catholic ladies are invited to attend.
