Island Falls Seniors

The Island Falls Seniors Citizens held their first meeting of the new year on Jan. 5 at the municipal building with 21 members and one guest attending.

As usual, the potluck included a variety of hot dishes and desserts. Following lunch, the business meeting was opened by president, Rich Camire. Our usual opening included the Lord’s Prayer and flag salute.

Our guest and speaker for the day was Christine McPherson, area coordinator of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She expounded on the numerous opportunities RSVP provides, such as Meals on Wheels, friendly visiting or phone calls and transportation to medical appointments. She also highlighted the benefits of volunteerism.

At the conclusion of her visit, the secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read and accepted.

After adjournment, we played a member favorite, the bag game.

Members present were, Mary Lawler, Jeanne Clements, Ellie Peck, Darrell and Sherry Hartin, Rich Camire, Louise Butcher, Keith and Esther Harvey, Verna Boone, Dennis Boone, Barney and Marcy Coursey, Mary Pipes, Edith Dwyer, Darlene Hartin, Deanie Smith, Gloria Noyes, Terry Dwyer, Jutta Beyer, Patti Hartin and guest Christine McPherson.

Our next meeting will occur on Jan. 19 and we will play Bingo. As always, we extend an invitation to any and all seniors to join us,
