Staff of Easton Elementary School have recognized four young people as Students of the Quarter: Josiah Ellis, Lilah Pelkey, Jenna Cochran and Madison Seeley.
Ellis is a second-grader, and staff said he works hard and always perseveres until he comes up with the answer. He is consistently kind, respectful to others and tries to do what is expected of him. He has a great sense of humor and is an all around great student and friend.
He is the son of Perrin and Meaghan Ellis.

Pelkey is a third-grader. Her teacher described her as one of the happiest people she knows. She loves to share what she has been doing and is very enthusiastic. She is kind and great friend to everyone and can often be seen helping those around her. She works very hard in the classroom and puts in her best effort.
She is the daughter of Sarah and Jessie Bell.
A sixth-grader, Cochran is involved in many school activities and is an outstanding student. She is very kind and always willing to help others.
She resides with her grandparents, Shag and Faith Cochran.

Seeley, the daughter of Stephanie Rice, is a very good student in the fifth grade. Her grades are excellent and she is an outstanding school citizen. Her teacher said she is very deserving of this award.
Happy Days update

The Happy Days Senior Citizens’ Club met for a potluck lunch on Feb. 9 with members Annette Copeland, Betty Brown, Jean Ann Ames, Julia Allen, Keith Richardson, Esther Richardson, John Trask, Nina Trask Carrie Nason and Liana DeMerchant.
The next meeting will be a potluck lunch at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, in the recreation room at the Manor. All Easton seniors are invited to join and bring a friend.
Easton PTO
The Easton PTO is collecting gently used shoes for a fundraiser. Drop shoes off at the Odd Fellows Hall, Easton Elementary School, or Easton Junior/Senior High School.
Moonlight Snowshoe Hike
The Francis Malcolm Science Center (776 Houlton Road) plans a one-hour moonlight snowshoe hike through the woods on Friday, March 10, at 6:30 p.m. Snowshoes are available at no charge with paid admission. Hot chocolate will be served. Bring a flashlight or headlamp if available.

Pageant in the works

School registration
The Easton School Department is now accepting registration for children entering Kindergarten or Pre-K in the Fall of 2017. Call the Easton Elementary School at 488-7700 as soon as possible to register a child. The classroom teacher will notify parents/guardians when an informational meeting is scheduled.
Library Hours

The community library will resume their regular schedule. After-school activities are at the elementary school. On Saturdays the Community Library is at the Easton High School Library, with story time for toddlers and preK-grade 3 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. This includes a picture book with an activity/color page to follow. Return completed notices to main office or sign up in the office.
The library will be open to the community on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at the elementary school and Saturday, Feb. 25, at the high school.
Vacation at the Rec
Wednesday, Feb. 22: Snow tubing at Big Rock. Cost is $10; includes entry fee, pizza and soda. Children should be dressed appropriately. Contact the Easton Recreation Department for a permission slip.
Thursday, Feb. 23: Movie field trip and lunch at KFC. Cost is $6; includes popcorn, soda and ticket. Bring lunch money.
Friday, Feb. 24: Swim trip to Limestone schools. The bus leaves at 12:15 and returns at 2:30. Cost is $3. Bring swimwear and a towel.
