HOULTON, Maine — The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to 259 calls for service during the period of Feb. 8-19.
Sunday, February 19
– Cpl. Hafford finished an investigation into a stalking complaint from last week and summonsed a 49-year-old male from Wallagrass with stalking and harassment by telephone. The male had been texting a female neighbor, identifying himself as “the reaper.” Cpl. Hafford obtained a search warrant for the Verizon messages and with the assistance of Sgt. Willette and Det. Cookson of Computer Crimes was able to identify the sender of the messages.
Saturday, February 18
– Tr. Kilcollins was traveling southbound on U.S. Route 1 in Monticello when he measured a vehicle heading northbound going 86 mph in a posted 55-mph zone. Tr. Kilcollins turned his cruiser around and observed the vehicle attempting to pass another vehicle. Tr. Kilcollins caught up to the vehicle and pulled it over. The driver said he was late taking his son to hockey in Presque Isle. The man was summonsed for criminal speed.
– Presque Isle PD put out an all-points bulletin for a black Ford Fusion being operated by a male that had assaulted his girlfriend. Tr. Kilcollins located that vehicle in Bridgewater and made a traffic stop. Tr. Kilcollins placed the man under arrest and relayed him back to Presque PD.
– Tr. Adams stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 11 in Staceyville. The operator admitted that he did not have a license and he was summonsed for operating without a license.

– Tr. Saucier instructed an Intoxilyzer class to local officers at the Ashland Police Department.

– Tr. Sylvia instructed a class on search warrants at Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
Tuesday, February 14
– Tr. Sylvia responded to a Monticello residence for a possible assault. Tr. Sylvia spoke with the complainant, and after doing so, determined that it appeared someone had mistaken the complainant for someone else. What appeared to be a small scuffle had occurred, but the victim did not want to pursue any charges, and the other person involved in the incident was not located.
Thursday, February 9
– Tr. Desrosier is investigating a case where a man is selling a Nintendo gaming console online. The anticipated purchaser sent the man a check for the console but the check was issued for more that the agreed price. The purchaser asked the complainant to send him the difference that was overpaid back to him in a money gram. Tr. Desrosier explained to the man that this is a check scam and the check will not clear his bank. Tr. Desrosier explained to him how the scam works and the man said he will not be depositing the check.
– State Police received a report of a crash on Route 11 in Portage. Cpl. Michaud responded to the crash and his investigation disclosed that 18-year-old had been southbound on Route 11 near the Fox Hill Road intersection when she drove off the road. The driver’s 2009 Mitsubishi crashed into a guardrail, climbed a snowbank, and then crashed into another guardrail on the opposite side of Route 11. She reported to Cpl. Michaud that she was not sure why she lost control and drove off the roadway. At some point, the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported by Ashland Ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. The vehicle was extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene. Cpl. Michaud was assisted at the crash scene by Ashland Ambulance and the Ashland Fire Department.
– State Police in Houlton received a report of a stolen 2014 Polaris Ranger side-by-side utility vehicle. Tr. Sylvia responded and is investigating the incident. The Polaris Ranger is owned by Emera Maine and was taken from their job site, where it was parked overnight, at a potato house on the Station Road in Littleton. Emera employees followed the tracks and located the vehicle on the Shanks Road a short distance away parked at a plowed turnaround. The Ranger’s Camoplast Tracks had been removed and stolen.
Wednesday, February 8
– Tr. Curtin took a report from a New Canada couple who had had fallen for an online scam. The couple had wired $4,000 thinking that once the money was received they would be awarded a grant worth much more money. The incident was a scam and the couple lost their $4,000. State Police again remind people that anytime they are asked to send any amount of money in order to receive more money in return; the proposal is probably fraudulent.
– Tr. Adams had paperwork to serve on a female subject in Patten and discovered that the female had two active warrants out of Penobscot County. Tr. Adams arrested the female without incident and transported her to Penobscot County Jail.
– On Dec. 31st, 2016 Tr. Pescitelli had received a report of vandalism. Male subject in Linneus wanted to report that a friend had drove onto his property and into part of his house causing minimal damage to the corner. The suspect’s vehicle was located a short time later with damage consistent with the victim’s story the suspect was not located. On Feb. 8th Tr. Bell initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was being operated by the male suspect and he was summonsed for driving to endanger and criminal mischief.
