PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Northern Maine Community College will host its annual job fair on Thursday, March 9, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in the College gymnasium.

The event will provide an opportunity for the public to meet with hiring representatives from about 50 businesses, organizations, and government entities from throughout The County and Maine all under one roof.

“Since many of the employers are looking to fill vacancies, attendees looking for work should bring several copies of their resume for consideration,” said Ruth White, regional director of Early College for ME program. “The opportunity to meet face to face and leaving employers with written information makes you a memorable candidate and enhances the possibility of obtaining the desired position.”

The job fair at NMCC, the largest in Aroostook, brings together a wide range of employers who are looking for skills from laborers, nurses, lab techs, truck drivers, construction, heavy equipment operators, administrative assistants, manager trainees, plus many more.

An area of the gymnasium has been designated for employers to conduct interviews, if necessary. The attendees should come prepared for an interview to take place upon the employer’s request.

In today’s competitive workforce it is important to upgrade skills or to acquire new ones. Most companies today are looking for some type of degree beyond a high school diploma. Therefore, there will be representatives from Northern Maine Community College and Husson University at the job fair to encourage attendees to continue their educational journey.

The job fair is open to everyone interested in applying for a job or those who want to become acquainted with the opportunities open to them.

“The sheer size of this fair will challenge the perception that there are few opportunities for job seekers in the region,” said White.
