SINCLAIR, Maine — When it comes to longevity at North Lakes Fire and Rescue, three individuals stand out, with a combined 103 years of service.
Richard Rossignol of Sinclair, 39 years, Rudy St. Peter, of Cross Lake, 38 years and Raymond Hebert of Sinclair, 26 years, were honored at the emergency service organization’s annual recognition dinner, Friday, Feb. 24 at the Sinclair Senior Citizen’s Center.
The three men had been part of separate smaller departments prior to the formation of T17 R4 & R5 Fire in 2003, and then the North Lakes department in 2007.
Also recognized at the dinner were Assistant Chief David Bouley, of New Canada, 18 years, and Asst. Chief Gary Langley of Madawaska Lake, Captain Steve Belanger of Cross Lake, Capt. Josh Belanger of Cross Lake, Capt. Harold “Buddy” Olmstead of Madawaska Lake, Safety Officer Terry Thibodeau of Madawaska Lake, and Firefighters Dean Gardiner of Madawaska Lake, David Habeeb of Madawaska Lake and Dana Hallowell of Madawaska, all for 10 years of membership.
Thirty additional firefighters and volunteers were also recognized for years of service ranging from one to nine years. Members of the Sinclair ATV Club were also presented a special award for their continuing support of and assistance to the North Lakes department.
North Lakes Fire & Rescue has three substations covering four unorganized territories and the town of Westmanland in Aroostook County. The volunteer department, which is administered as part of the county government, serves recreational and residential areas on Cross, Mud, Long, Madawaska and Square lakes.
The department also provides mutual aid to nearby communities such as Stockholm, St. Agatha, Fort Kent and Caribou.
