CARIBOU, Maine — Five people, including WAGM-TV’s news director and videographer, were injured in a three-car crash on U.S. Route 1 in Caribou on Tuesday afternoon.
All five involved in the 1:45 p.m. accident were transported to Cary Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to Administrative Assistant Laura Adams of the Caribou Police Department.
Police said speed and road conditions were contributing factors. It was snowing at the time.
The police report on the accident was not yet available Wednesday morning, but Adams said it involved a 2005 Chevy Avalanche driven by Jane Wadsworth, 24, of Ashland; a 2012 Jeep Liberty driven by Conrad Beaulieu, 70, of Madawaska with Rachelle Beaulieu, 72 as a passenger; and a 2012 Ford Escape driven by WAGM videographer Mike McNally, 63, of Ashland with WAGM news director Kelly O’Mara, 33, of Easton as a passenger.
WAGM Sports Director/Assignment Editor Rene Cloukey told the Bangor Daily News Tuesday night that O’Mara had been released from Cary Medical Center and that McNally was “fine,” but staying the night in the hospital for observation.
Caribou police, along with members of the fire and ambulance department, responded to the accident which happened between the Caribou Inn and Convention Center and Fort Street on U.S. Route 1. They also were assisted by members of the Maine State Police and the Maine Warden Service.
