The Houlton Council of Catholic Women met on March 6, 2017, in the Parish Center for their monthly meeting. There were 11 members present, along with moderator Father Dave and Deacon Al.
The secretary’s report was read by Jane Mitchell. Treasurer Mary Grant read the treasurer’s report. Correspondence secretary Alta Reardon read several “Thank you” cards.
The group discussed St. Patrick’s Bazaar and members were asked to participate. The council will donate a girl’s bike for the raffle.
All discussed end-of-the year banquet and the catering will be done by Dow’s Market. Members are asked to sign up if they plan to attend.
Council voted to have a Mass for our graduates in June. A nomination committee consisting of Alta Reardon, Kathy Klein and Jane Mitchell will meet to discuss officers for the upcoming year. The Constitution and Bylaws were reviewed and changes were made at the suggestion of members.
Members voted to donate to a family who recently lost their home to a fire. We will have a baby shower for the Pregnancy Care Center at our April meeting. We will have a donation basket at the back of the church if parishioners wish to participate.
Sue Hardy reviewed information presented at the last Parish Council meeting. Janet Barker won the door prize. Birthdays and anniversaries were noted. Prayer requests were received. Members recited three Hail Mary’s. The meeting adjourned.
The next meeting will be on April 3, 2017 at 6 p.m. in the Parish Center. All Catholic ladies are invited to attend.
