Student-athletes shine at Caribou High School awards night

CARIBOU, Maine — Winter sports awards were presented at Caribou High School March 6, with members of the swimming, cheerleading, skiing, basketball and wrestling teams all being recognized for their involvement.

MVP awards were presented to the following: varsity Nordic ski: Bryce Coffin and Kendra Furber: varsity alpine skiing: Scott Bray and Hope Shea; varsity swimming: varsity wrestling: Cory Jandreau; Kyra Thibeault; varsity boys’ basketball: Austin Findlen; varsity girls’ basketball: Gabrielle Marquis; JV boys’ basketball: Silas Boulanger; and JV girls’ basketball: Ashley Violette.

Erin Tateishi-Ouellette, the coach of the Carlisle swim team, presented letters to Ashley Conroy and Kristyn Maley; plaques to Abby Espling and Riley McNeal; and a trophy to Kyra Thibeault.

Coach Rachel Fisher handed out cheerleading awards. Varsity letters went to Destiny Soucie, Emilee Lothrop and Mackenna Smith. Earning plaques were Crissy Corbin, Marisa Michaud, Molly McCrossin, Makenzie Conroy and Erin Jandreau. Earning trophies were Kirsten Haney, Heather Lamothe, Sheridan Blackstone and Mickayla Ellis. Hannah McDonald received a jacket.

Varsity alpine skiers were honored by coach Neal Sleeper. On the boys’ side, Nathan Pitre was presented a certificate. Aiden Plante, Tiernan Barbosa and Ghent Durepo earned letters and Scott Bray a trophy. For girls, Hope Shea got a letter and Maren Moir a plaque.

Members of the Nordic boys’ ski team, under head coach Evan Graves and his assistant, George Ferland, were also presented awards. JV letters went to Noah Margeson, Rieley Bossie, Josh

Quist, Kyle Boucher, Austin Laplante, Jon O’Meara and Tiernan Barbosa. Caleb Brown, Evan Desmond, Nic Sleeper and Noah Hixon were letter winners, while Emerson Duplissie-Cyr, Bryce Coffin and Alec Cyr were trophy recipients.

Girls’ JV letters went to Emma Hixon, Victoria Leavitt and Jojo Fields and varsity letters to Rachel Wing and Abigail Wimmer. Kendra Furber and Erin Kashian received plaques and Madeline Gudde and Ciara Richards trophies.

Coach Shawn Manter recognized his JV basketball team members, with certificates going to Cody Levasseur, Brian Newell and Max Lister and letters to Silas Boulanger, Josh Kowalanski, Benoit Levesque, Joey Gregson, Logan Lusardi, Brandon Jalbert, Jay Belanger and manager Peyton LIndsey.

Members of varsity boys’ basketball team, under coach Chris Casavant and his assistant, Bill Casavant, received honors. Earning certificates were Cody Anderson, Stewart Curtis, Dylan Marrero and Cullin Caverhill. Letters were presented to Alex Bouchard, Parker Deprey, Jacob Paul, Jacob Berkoski, Tharen Hand, Noah Rosado and managers Chelsea Levesque, Heather DeMerchant and Elsie Patton. Austin Findlen received a plaque.

Marc Weeks, the coach of the JV girls’ basketball team, handed out a certificate to Mishun Money and letters to Alexis Bruso, Brianna Reece, Ashley Violette, Taylor Devoe, Olivia Picard, Hollie McDougal, Kaytlin Waldemarson, Renee Stubbs, Abby Parks, Julia Kawalansky, Alysa Theriault, Abbi Allen and manager Shelby Barnes.

Girls’ varsity basketball awards were presented by coach Ryan Deprey, with letters going to managers Sarah Berube and Jessica Limary and players Monica McLaughlin, Taylor Skidgel, Alexis Rodriguez, Paige Espling, Kimberlee Susi, Maddie Stratton and Abbie Robbins; plaques to Zoe Gerakaris, Megan Thornton and Katelyn Clark; trophies to Gabrielle Marquis and manager Searra Herbert; and jackets to Maddie Doucette and Rachel Soucy.

Chico Hernandez, coach of the varsity wrestling team, along with his assistant, Robert Jandreau, recognized team members as follows: letters to Skylar Hooey and Spencer Soucy and trophies to Evan Michaud, Cory Jandreau and Brooke DeMerchant.
