PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Financial services firm Edward Jones earned fifth place on the 2017 Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list.
This is the company’s 18th appearance on the prestigious list, according to global research and consulting firm Great Place to Work® and Fortune magazine.
Headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., Edward Jones operates an office in Presque Isle with two employees. Sue Cook is the senior branch office administrator, while Gretchen Morse serves as financial adviser.
“Edward Jones has strong values, such as belief in the individual and in relationships, and treating our clients and our associates, as we would like to be treated,” said Morse. “It shapes the way we do business every day as we work face-to-face servicing the communities where our clients live and work.”
Edward Jones is listed as a Fortune 500 company and provides financial services for individual investors in the United States and, through its affiliate, in Canada. The firm’s 15,000-plus financial advisers work directly with more than 7 million clients.
To identify the 100 Best Companies to Work For, each year Fortune partners with Great Place to Work to conduct an extensive employee survey. The ranking is based on feedback from more than 232,000 employees at Great Place to Work-Certified companies with more than 1,000 employees.
Among the criteria for winning companies is creating a great place to work for employees, according to Great Place to Work officials.
Through the Trust Index survey, employees anonymously assess their workplace, including the honesty and quality of communication by managers, degree of support for employees’ personal and professional lives and the authenticity of relationships with colleagues. Another audit includes detailed questions about benefits, programs and practices.
Great Place to Work said results have a 95 percent confidence level and a margin of error of 5 percent or less.
