LIMESTONE, Maine — The RSU 39 school board recently authorized the renaming of Limestone’s baseball field to the “Howard and Zeta Lello Memorial Field,” in honor of two residents who supported the community for years and left an endowment for the school sports program.
LCS Assistant Principal Eric McGough spoke before the board during the March 15 meeting, gave updates on the field, and stressed the importance of Howard and Zeta Lello’s philanthropic efforts.
“The scoreboard and utility building project you approved in September is coming along very well,” McGough said, “and truly reflects the pride Limestone has in its facilities.”
McGough said that construction of utility building is complete, “thanks to the extraordinary efforts of Caribou’s Regional Technology Center students, several of whom are from LCS, as well as Coach Huntress, LCS staff members, and community volunteers.”
According to the Assistant Principal, the RSU purchased the scoreboard with donations to the Lello fund from the Limestone Rotary, local businesses, LCS alumni, and community members. The MSSM key club is painting the utility building and the dugout. Boulevard Graphics, a local company, is providing signs to acknowledge contributions local individuals and groups made to the project.
“Lello’s support of Limestone lives on through the Lello fund,” McGough said. “This name and sign would be a very well deserved acknowledgement of the contributions Howard and Zeta Lello made to our community.”
