The County Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol performed a promotion ceremony during their Feb. 20, 2017, meeting at the Presque Isle Airport.
Cadet Nate Hawksley, right, was promoted to Cadet Technical Sergeant. Presenting him with his new grade insignia is 2nd Lt. James Ackerson, deputy commander for cadets. To achieve this grade, Hawksley successfully completed studies in the areas of leadership, aerospace knowledge, character, and drill and ceremony, and met physical fitness standards. His new rank gives him increased leadership opportunities and responsibilities within the squadron. He is the son of Ted and Dee Hawksley of Mars Hill.
