CARIBOU, Maine — Robert T. Corey, 74, passed away peacefully March 17, 2017, at his Caribou residence following a brief illness. He was born in Caribou, October 12, 1942, the son of the late Nageb and Mary (Sullivan) Corey. He was a graduate of Caribou High School, and was a lifelong member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. On September 13, 1980, he married Judith Getchell.
He was an active member of the Caribou Lions Club for many years and the Caribou Grizzlies. Bob was an avid bowler, and even competed in a televised tournament. In his younger years, he was an avid softball player. Bob loved spending his summers boating on Madawaska and Little Madawaska Lakes. He especially enjoyed offering friends a ride around the lake and taking his grandchildren waterskiing and tubing. Bob owned and operated DoDo’s Market, which he bought from his Uncle DoDo Sullivan, for over 40 years. During his time as owner, he turned it into a thriving business and had to enlarge the building to its present size.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Judy, of Caribou, is a daughter, Jennifer Corey of Groton, CT, a step-daughter, Kimberly Hackett of Naples, FL, a step-son, Michael Hackett and wife Sheila of Clearwater, FL, one brother, Peter Corey of Stockholm, five grandchildren, Monique Large and husband Brian, Josephine Hackett, Shane, Austin, and Mitchell Masse, one great-grandchild, Zoey Large, a sister-in-law, Laura Violette and significant other Brett Felty of Caribou, a niece Tracy Corey of Vermont. Bob will be missed by his special friends, Dick Leavitt, John and Karen Wong, Richard Brown and John Frank.
Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 23, 2017, where evening prayer services will be held at 8 p.m. A graveside funeral service will be held in the spring at the New Holy Rosary Cemetery, Caribou.
