Wheaton, Kinney among top conference stat leaders

The Big East Conference has released its statistical leaders for the 2016-17 season and several Presque Isle Wildcat basketball players were at or near the top in several categories.

For boys, senior forward Bradley Kinney led the way in rebounding average at 10.9 per game. He was also tied for fifth in scoring average at 15.3 ppg and 10th in two-point field goal percentage at 53.3.

Junior guard Griffin Guerrette was second in assists at 4.4 per game, fifth in steals at 2.2 per game, seventh in scoring at 14.8 ppg and 10th in three-point field goal percentage at 36.8.

Sophomore guard Jonah Hudson was sixth in assists at 3.6 per game and seventh in steals at 2.1 per game.

On the girls’ side, junior guard Emily Wheaton led the league in assists with 5.2 per game, was tied for first in free throw percentage at 80, second in scoring at 20.1 ppg and third in three-point field goal percentage at 45.2.

Senior guard Emily Lagerstrom was fifth in three-point field goal percentage at 42.3, seventh in scoring at 13.1 ppg and ninth in assists at 2.6 per game.

Senior center Skylar Vogel ranked sixth in rebounds at 7.9 per game and sixth in two-point field goal percentage at 50.7. Sophomore forward Savannah Rodriguez was fifth in steals at 2.9 per game.
