LIMESTONE, Maine — Niche, an analysis team based in Pittsburgh, announced March 28 that an Aroostook County school is at the top of its best STEM schools in Maine.
The team, according to its website, consists of data scientists, engineers, parents and others who want to help people discover the schools and neighborhoods that are right for them. As part of their 2017 K-12 school rankings process, they showcased the best public high schools for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in America.
Of 101 ranked schools, the Maine School of Science and Mathematics is the is the number-one best high school for STEM in Maine.
Also in the top five were Yarmouth high school at number 2; Falmouth High School, 3; Cape Elizabeth, 4; and Camden Hills Regional High School, 5.
Niche officials said, to find the best high schools for STEM nationwide, they analyzed factors like math state test scores, enrollment in advanced math and science courses, and alumni interest in STEM majors and colleges, as well as millions of reviews from students and parents about the schools they attend.
