HOULTON, Maine — Slick roads caused by a snow squall, led to a two-car collision Monday afternoon, March 27 at the intersection of Columbia and Chandler streets.
According to Theron Bickford, acting lieutenant for the Houlton Police Department, Patrolman William Janakis responded to a report of a two-car collision. Jody Barker, 42, of Houlton was traveling north on Chandler Street in a 2017 Honda Accord at 1:02 p.m. As Barker approached the four-way intersection with Columbia Street, she came to a stop and then proceeded.
At that point, Barker’s vehicle was struck broadside on the passenger side by a 2008 Chevrolet pick-up truck operated by Tonia Shaw, 47 of Houlton. Shaw was traveling on Columbia Street and was unable to come to a complete stop before sliding into the intersection, Bickford said.
Barker’s vehicle sustained extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene. Shaw’s vehicle received minor damage.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and neither were injured. No charges were filed in the case.
