HOULTON, Maine — Houlton Water Company (HWC), a consumer owned electric, water and wastewater utility, recently announced it will be lowering its rates.
HWC went out for bids in January 2017 for a new standard offer energy supply. The company received competitive offers and selected New Brunswick Energy Marketing to provide Standard Offer Service for a three year period beginning April 1, 2017 and expiring March 31, 2020.
“We are pleased to announce that the new energy rates are 8 percent lower than the previous two-year contract,” said Greg Sherman, of HWC. “The new rate for the three year term is 6.7 cents per Kwh versus the old rate of 7.285 cents per Kwh.”
