HOULTON, Maine — Houlton police responded to two separate accidents on the B Road Tuesday, April 4.

At 6:24 a.m., Matthew McAfee, 30, of Hammond was traveling west on the B Road in a 2014 GMC Sierra when a deer ran into the road. The vehicle struck the deer, causing minor damage to the truck’s passenger side.

According to Houlton acting-Lieutenant Theron Bickford, the deer was killed as a result of the impact and given to McAfee.

Police returned to the B Road at 9:34 p.m. for another motor vehicle accident. Bickford said Dustin Shaw, 16, of Littleton was traveling south on the B Road in a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck when the front driver’s side tire came off the vehicle and into the path of an oncoming car.

The tire struck a 2012 Chevrolet sedan operated by Denise Geiger, 52, of Littleton, causing minimal damage.

Bickford said a citation was issued to Shaw for failure to display a valid inspection sticker.
