IONE HALLOWELL DIXON BLAINE – Ione Hallowell Dixon, 81, passed away on March 29, 2017, at Houlton Regional Hospital. She was born on March 10, 1936, in Blaine, ME, the daughter of Ida Bull Hallowell and Charles Hallowell.
She graduated from ACI in 1955 and married her husband Robert Dixon in No-vember of that year. After Sgt. Dixon retired from the military they returned to Blaine in 1973 and lived there until 1997. During that time Ione was active in the Blaine Civic Group, a member of St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fort Fairfield, was active in Eastern Star and at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church. She worked at the Mars Hill Town Office and the Mars Hill Utility District for several years. She and her husband moved to St. Simons Island, Georgia. They returned to Blaine in 2004.
Ione was survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Robert in Oct. 2015, two sisters, Alice Hartley and Madeline Hawksley and a brother, Donald Hallowell.
A combined graveside service with military honors for Ione and her husband Robert will take place at 1 p.m., May 25, 2017, at Tapley Cemetery, Blaine, with Rev. Kevin Kinsey, officiating.
