PRESQUE ISLE, ME — The Easter Bunny had some help decorating eggs over the weekend at the Wintergreen Arts Center. Families from around Aroostook County gathered to “celebrate the fun side of Easter” with crafts and treats.
The 10th annual Artful Egg took place on the first sunny Saturday in April on State Street in Presque Isle.
Folks gobbled up tickets for both morning and afternoon sessions making it a sold out packed house. Close to 70 kids plus their parents participated in decorating eggs, baskets, wreaths, cookies and faces.
“It allows the kids to be creative,” chairman of the Wintergreen board of directors Kim Guerrette Michaud said. “There are so many art projects we can work around and we look for any excuse to be creative.”
Michaud said this year’s Artful Egg is the biggest to date. Volunteers from around the community make each event possible. Volunteers lend a hand boiling hundreds of eggs and baking cupcakes. Fifteen helpers were on hand Saturday, April 1, 2017. Bakers brought in 450 cupcakes for kids to take home and boilers cooked up 300 eggs for painting
“People love to show off their cupcakes,” she said. “Everybody does a little bit and it makes a wonderful event for the kids.”
