Presque Isle bowling team wins EM tourney

HOULTON, Maine — Trinity Lodge, based in Presque Isle, cruised to the victory in the 95th annual Eastern Maine Bowling Tournament held March 29 through April 1, 2017.

Trinity Lodge posted a 32-4 record to take first place, with Presque Isle Elks I placing second at 25-11 and the Houlton Elks third at 23-13.

The records of the other teams competing were: Calais (22-14), Presque Isle Elks II (20-16), Houlton IOOF (20-16), Woodland I (17-19), Houlton Elks II (8-28), Calais II (8-28) and Woodland II (5-31).

Trinity Lodge had the team-high single with a 657 and the team-high three with a 1,822 and one of its team members, Woody Shaw, had the individual-high three with a 417. Josh Thornton of Calais I posted the high single with a 176.
The tourney all-star team was headed up by Shaw, who averaged 118.04. Teammate Tom Pelkey was next at 116. Others on the all-star team were Chris Stewart of Houlton IOOF at 115.93, Doug Merritt of Houlton Elks II at 115.78 and Larry Good and Michael Lee, both of Presque Isle Elks I, with identical averages of 115.04.
