SCARBOROUGH AND LIMESTONE, Maine — Donna Mae Daniels, 83, passed away March 30, 2017 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough with her loving daughter by her side. She was born on May 1, 1933 in Limestone, the daughter of Hilkiah and Emma (Thompson) Sloan.
Mae graduated from Limestone High School and attended Farmington State Teachers College. She received her Education Degree from the University of Maine at Presque Isle in 1966. She taught at schools in Caribou and Limestone for 38 years and enjoyed the many students who stayed in contact with her throughout her lifetime.
Mae was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Limestone and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Limestone of which she held several offices. She was active in the Retired Teachers Association.
Mae was always willing to help those family members and friends who needed her assistance. Her loving and friendly willingness to help was greatly appreciated and widely known throughout the community.
Mae married Arthur Fenlason in November 1953 and he died in March 1966. Mae later married the love of her life, Manford Lawton who later died in March 1986. Then in 1992, Mae married Earl Daniels and he died in 1997.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Ross of Lebanon ME; granddaughter Monica LaPointe and husband Randy of Fairfield, ME; brother Philip Sloan of Andover, MA, and sister Pauline Spivey and her husband Troy of Wichita Falls, TX. She leaves behind Keagan and two great- grandsons, several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.
In addition to her parents, Mae was predeceased by her husbands; her grandson, Michael Ross; and her siblings: Allen and Albert Sloan, Geneva Mead, Beverly Young, and Patricia Boltseridge.
The family would like to thank the Maine Veterans’ Home for the loving care they provided to Mae.
Services will be held at 11:00am on June 10, 2017 at Limestone Methodist Church, 2 Burleigh Ave, Limestone with Pastor Stephen Dale officiating. Interment will be held at Webster Cemetery, Limestone. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Limestone Methodist Church or to the activity fund at the Maine Veteran’s Home, 290 US Route One Scarborough ME 04074.
