NEW SWEDEN, Maine — This month, a popular exhibit that helps parents and other adults learn to identify signs that may reveal risky teen behaviors is coming to New Sweden.
Entitled “Hidden In Plain Sight,” the exhibit is designed to resemble a teenager’s bedroom and is a must-see for anyone with kids — especially teens — in their home. Throughout the display are more than 100 items that may indicate that a teen is involved in some type of high-risk behavior, such as substance use, underage drinking, eating disorders, sexual activity and more.
The event will take place at the New Sweden School, 113 Westmanland Rd., on Friday, April 28, from 6 to 7 p.m.
Substance abuse prevention professionals will be on hand to guide participants through the exhibit and to answer questions. Organizers said adults should explore and interact with the display to get an up-close look at the items in the room, and said participants will be enlightened, educated and astonished.
There is no cost to attend. No youth will be permitted at the event.
