LIMESTONE, Maine — Barbara E. Hendricksen, 92, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Caribou following a brief illness.
She was born in Salmonhurst, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of the late Carl and Sena (Larsen) Bronnum. Barbara worked for the Limestone school department for a number of years as a cafeteria cook. She was an avid knitter who made many socks, dolls, mittens, hats, and scarves. She always gave away her hand knitted socks to anyone she believed needed a pair – and they often came back for more. Barbara also enjoyed playing BINGO. She was well-known for her homemade baked beans and homemade bread. She is survived by two sons, Curtis Hendricksen of Kennebunk, Ken Hendricksen of Rockport, two daughters, Maxine Hendricksen of Limestone, and Desiree Hendricksen of Hollis, 5 grandchildren, Michael Kenaley, David Quartarone, Elijah Kirschmann, Israel Hendricksen, and Michael Hendricksen, two sisters, Patsy Nissen of Perth-Andover, NB, and Glenna Nagy of Mississauga, ON. Several great and great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Wilfred Hendricksen, she was predeceased by a son, Stephen Hendricksen, and a daughter, Judy Kenaley. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on her birthday June 12, 2017 at the Advent Cemetery, Limestone. Arrangements are by Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou. www.mocklerfuneralhome.com
