MURRAY C. ADAMS SR. LINNEUS – Murray C. Adams Sr., 87, died after a brief illness Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at a Bangor hospital. He was born September 1, 1929, in Houlton, the son of Herbert J. and Beatrice (Getchell) Adams. Murray graduated from Ricker Classical Institute in 1947.
He served as a Sargent in the U.S. Army National Guard Battery B 152d Field Artillery Battalion from 1947 to 1957. In 1951 he married Alice Teresa Kinney. They were married for sixty-six years and together raised ten children. Murray worked at Eastern Motors, Petroleum Products, D.W. Small and retired from James H. McPartland & Sons. During his employment years he also worked on the “Family Farm.”
He always enjoyed riding the back fields looking for wildlife, loved going to camp, fishing and hunting, and spending time with family. He was a member of various sporting clubs, conservation groups, school, and town committees.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Eleanor. In addition to his wife Alice, he is survived by ten children; Dennis Adams and his wife Jayne, Gregory Adams and his wife Nancy, William “Billy” Adams and his wife Beth, Joseph “Joey” Adams and his wife Diana, Anne Adams, Murray “Clive” Adams Jr. and his wife Elsa, Barbara Landry and her husband Lee, Christine Alvarado and her husband Domingo, Pamela Rice, Kevin Adams and his wife Tammy. He also leaves behind twenty four grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and many cousins.
Relatives and friends called 6-8 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2017, at the Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park St., Houlton. A Mass Of Christian Burial was celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday, Apr. 22, 2017, at St. Mary Of The Visitation Church with Father David Raymond celebrant. Military honors took place immediately following the service at the church. The family invited relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at St. Anthony’s Hall following the service. Interment will take place at a later date at Linneus Cemetery.
