The Caribou tennis teams are both off to 4-0 starts as they get ready to play three home matches, weather permitting, the remainder of the week.
The Vikings played Washington Academy Saturday afternoon in a make-up match at the University of Maine-Presque Isle courts following the Raiders’ scheduled match against the Wildcats.
The Caribou girls won by a 5-0 score for the fourth time this season. Singles players Gabrielle Marquis, Ashley Matlock and Hailey Holmquist and the doubles teams of Ciara Richards/Danielle Hanson and Kyra Thibeault/Samantha Tourk did not lose a single game.
The boys also prevailed by a 5-0 final and had beaten both Fort Kent and Houlton by the same scores earlier in the week. At home against Fort Kent, Alec Cyr beat Micah Charette in first singles, 8-1, while Gabriel Rand topped Niko Naranja, 8-2, and Parker Deprey downed David Roy, 8-2, in the other singles matches. The No. 1 doubles team of Emerson Duplissie-Cyr and Bailey Griffeth scored an 8-1 victory, while the No. 2 duo of Seth Beidelman and Aidan Plante captured an 8-4 triumph.
The Viking girls also beat Houlton on the road last Tuesday and Fort Kent at home Thursday.
A home match against Presque Isle originally scheduled for Tuesday was postponed due to rain and will now be held Thursday at 2 p.m. A regularly-scheduled match against Madawaska follows at 4 p.m. Foxcroft is in town Saturday at 1 p.m.
More matches are on the slate for next week, with the regional singles state tennis qualifier set for May 13 in Caribou.
