ASHLAND, Maine — Ashland District School senior Hannah Stratton of Ashland recently received the 2017 Principal’s Award, said Principal Joel Hall.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
“Hannah has truly made her mark at Ashland District School in terms of her school service, scholarship and leadership. Hannah is an outstanding student with high goals and expectations for herself,” Hall said in a press release. “Hannah has always excelled while taking the most difficult classes ADS has to offer. She has participated in many other co-curricular activities in order to stay a well-rounded student.”
Statton has served as president of both the National Honor Society and Student Council in 2017, and has participated in several varsity level sports, serving as captain of her basketball team. She has been very successful in both the FFA and Aroostook Valley 4-H throughout her career.
Stratton is the daughter of Bobbi Jo Ridley of Ashland and plans to attend the University of Maine, majoring in communication sciences and disorders, in the fall of 2017.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association that represents Maine’s school administrators.
