HOULTON, Maine — A Mars Hill masseuse is bringing her talents to the Shiretown as Diana Mains has expanded her business to cover the greater Houlton area.

Operating from a re-designed space inside the Modern Beauty Salon at 48 Main St., Mains spends two days in the Houlton office, while the remainder of her time is focused in Mars Hill. A licensed massage therapist and polarity therapy specialist, Mains hopes to see her customer base expand in Houlton.

“I have been doing massage for the past two years,” she said. “Prior to that I was in the field of marketing and communication in southern Maine. I moved to The County from Standish in 2015, so I am developing my client base.”

Mains said she was offered a spot inside Modern Beauty and was delighted to bring her talents to the Shiretown.

“I really wanted to expand to the Houlton area,” she said. “I have met a lot of people who were interested in massage, but did not want to drive to Mars Hill. Plus, I really love Houlton. It has a feeling to it that I just love. This was an offer I could not refuse.”

Mains graduated from the 600-hour holistic massage therapy program at Spa Tech Institute in Westbrook and has more than 50 clinical training hours with MaryAnn Butts, LMT of Portland Massage Co.

In 2015, she opened her first practice “Shallie’s Place” in Mars Hill. She offers a combination of Swedish, polarity, myofascial, reflexology, neuromuscular, pregnancy and infant, range of motion and event massage.

“I am excited to share my passion for the healing power of touch by providing massage and polarity therapy; and to share my passion for massage therapy through educating [people about] the extraordinary benefits of the physiological and psychological changes that take place when you have regular, skilled bodywork,” she said.

The massage business is open Tuesdays and Thursdays in Houlton by appointment only. Mains works out of her Mars Hill office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. For more information, call 807-5666.
