HOULTON, Maine — Tom Zimmerman, head of school for Greater Houlton Christian Academy, announced Monday the honor parts for the Class of 2017.
Abigail Angotti has been named valedictorian, while Jedidiah Grant has been named salutatorian.
Angotti is the daughter of Daniel and Julie Angotti of Ludlow. She is a member of the National Honor Society.
“As a leader, she has served her graduation class well, organizing various fund-raising activities and working on the yearbook,” Zimmerman said. “She has earned many academic awards as well as gold and silver Presidential Education Awards in multiple subjects and the Christian Service award in 2014.”
Angotti has received recognition by the Houlton Rotary Club and merited ACSI Distinguished Christian High School Student in academics. She is the recipient of the Maine Principals’ Association Principal’s Award for 2017. She participated in three years of Aroostook League volleyball.
Angotti attends the Westfield Baptist Church where she is involved in various ministries, her favorite being childcare. In her community, she has served as an American Red Cross volunteer; she has enjoyed working on the staff at Living Waters and ministering in missions.
Angotti is employed at Hannaford and she will be attending Clarks Summit University in Pennsylvania where she will pursue a degree in secondary education.
Grant is the son of Mike and Talitha Grant of Lindsay, New Brunswick. He has received several academic and character awards including the Christian service award.
“For his consistent hard work he has been recognized by the Houlton Rotary Club, received awards in multiple subjects from the President’s Education Program, and was chosen for the ACSI Distinguished Christian High School Student award in athletics,” Zimmerman said.
Athletically, he played for the Aroostook Huskies for three seasons. He earned defensive player of the year in 2014 and 2015 and most valuable player in 2016. He participated in varsity basketball and Aroostook League volleyball for three years.
Grant attends Jacksontown Baptist Church and also serves as a counselor at Tay Valley Bible Camp. He has served as a volunteer at Adopt-A-Block of Aroostook, Military Street Baptist Church and the Houlton Police Department.
In his spare time, he enjoys four-wheeling and snowmobiling. Grant is currently employed at Andy’s IGA. He will be attending New Brunswick Bible Institute in the fall and plans to later study criminal justice.
