NEW SWEDEN, Maine — Sheldon A. Landeen, 60, passed away May 2, 2017, at Presque Isle following a brief illness. He was born in Caribou, February 6, 1957, the son of Milton and Joyce (Caverhill) Landeen.
He attended New Sweden Schools and was a 1975 graduate of Caribou High School. On September 10, 1976, he married Claudette Albert. Mr. Landeen was a self-employed farmer and potato grower, owning and operating Landeen Farms in New Sweden for many years. He received the McCain Foods Champion Grower award on several occasions. Sheldon played softball for several years for the Swedes and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman. He trapped for many years with his father and brother.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Claudette, and his mother, Joyce, both of New Sweden, are his children, Jason Landeen of New Sweden, Dawn McCrossin and husband Seth of Caribou, Andrew Landeen of New Sweden, Jeffrey Landeen of Caribou, and Stacy Engles and husband Sebastian of New Sweden, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Diane Landeen of New Sweden, and Gregory and Kelly Landeen of Connor, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Wade Monti of Woodland, and Roxanne and Paul Edgecomb of New Sweden, his grandchildren, Maggie Landeen, Braxton, and Lilly McCrossin, Ryder, Adrian, and Olivia Engles, Jacob Landeen, and a special grandson, Owen Burby, many nieces and nephews. Mr. Landeen was predeceased by his father in 2005.
Friends visited with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 8, 2017. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Chris Hern officiating. www.mocklerfuneralhome.com
