ASHLAND & MASARDIS, ME – Vera C. MacDonald Steinbeck, 103, passed into the arms of her Lord on Saturday, March 11, 2017, following a short illness.
She was born May 13, 1913 in Masardis, a daughter of the late Arthur and Myrtle (Robinson) Campbell.
Vera worked several years for former Tater State Processing, Washburn, before relocating to central Connecticut. She worked over 20 years with Pratt & Whitney before returning to her beloved northern Maine. Vera was never one to have idle hands and enjoyed busying herself with tending to the flower garden, working on puzzles or reading. She cherished her years with her first husband raising and caring for her family and had many memorable trips and travels with her second husband.
She is survived by: three children, Keith MacDonald and his wife Judie of Masardis, Arnold MacDonald of Front Royal, VA, and Beatrice Morin of Meriden, CT; four step-children, Fred Steinbeck Jr. and his wife Barbara, Rosemary Olschelski and her husband Al, John Steinbeck and Betty Steinbeck, all of Meriden, CT; many delightful grandchildren, great grandchildren & great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Vera is predeceased by a son, Albert MacDonald, her first husband, George MacDonald, her second husband, Frederick Steinbeck, and nine siblings.
A memorial service will be held 1 PM on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Union Congregational Church, Sheridan Rd., Ashland, with Pastor Nathan Gardner officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family 12 noon until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Masardis Municipal Cemetery.
