PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — On Friday, May 12, 2017, three students from the University of Maine at Presque Isle fine arts program — Mollie Hicks, Monica Quist and Arianna Forbes — will create a fun, pop-up exhibition to feature their finished works and studies of the human form.
This one-day-only show, “Body: An Exhibition of the Human Form,” will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at 551 Main St., Suite 3, just behind Precision Tattoo, and is free and open to the public.
“All three of us feel that the human form is something to be celebrated,” said Hicks, a senior fine art student at UMPI “ though, we all celebrate it in different ways. Some aim to capture its beauty, while others, its lumps and bumps and the quirky uniqueness of each individual form.”
The show will include work each artist has created during their time at UMPI and will depict models of all types, clothed and nude (parental discretion advised), as well as imaginative figural imagery.
“The students had a lot of fun bringing their artwork together and picking and choosing pieces to make a cohesive show for the public. I think the viewers will enjoy the work as much as they do! This pop-up show is for one day only so we hope to see everyone there.” said Hyrum Benson, associate professor of fine art at UMPI.
Light refreshments will be served; parking is provided beside the building.
