CARIBOU, Maine — The Houlton track and field team took advantage of the sunny Saturday to post solid times and distances at the Caribou invitational meet.
“We enjoyed a much-needed break in the weather over the weekend as the team competed in some of the nicest conditions they’ve seen all season,” coach Chris Rines said.
Individual event winners were Isaiah Brown (1600, 800), Mia Hanning (200), and Timothy Glatter (javelin). Brown remains undefeated in each event he has competed in thus far. Austin Brown, Mia Hanning, Jacob Forest, Timothy Glatter, Cole Winslow (Greater Houlton Christian Academy), Wesley Ganglfinger (GHCA), Mackenzie Hunt, Teagan Ewings (GHCA), and Joel Bond (Hodgdon) also placed well enough in several other events to score for their respective schools.

Girls team scores were: 1, Caribou, 233.50; 2, Presque Isle, 112.50; 3, George Stevens Academy, 103.50; 4 (tie), Narraguagus and Houlton, both 32; 6, Fort Kent, 26; 7, Limestone/MSSM, 24; 8, Fort Fairfield, 8; 9, Greater Houlton Christian, 4; and 10, Washburn, 1.50.

“The strategy going into this meet was to allow all the kids to hand pick each of their events and to also hold back on a full four-event schedule,” Rines said. “By doing so, we let each student really focus on the events they are close to qualifying in for PVCs and states. I’m really proud to see how well we did in the team standings for both boys and girls considering that strategy in mind.”
