PORTLAND, Maine — Jehovah’s Witnesses will hold their annual three-day convention May 26-28 at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland. They welcome all to attend his year’s event, with the theme “Don’t Give Up.”
Jehovah’s Witnesses will extend personal invitations to everyone in Maine and large sections of New Hampshire and Vermont to attend the convention. All congregations in the tri-state region of Jehovah’s Witnesses will help distribute printed invitations to the convention.
Events Friday, May 26, will begin at 9:20 a.m. An estimated 5,600 will gather each day for the Bible-based program. Jehovah’s Witnesses are organizing conventions throughout the earth.
Highlights will include, on Friday: By means of short talks and videos, see how the Bible helps us endure through problems such as advancing age, mistakes, chronic illness, and the loss of a loved one. On Saturday, learn how God comforts those who are depressed and learn how to build strong families. On Sunday, a talk designed especially for the public will explain Jeremiah’s words that God is ‘thinking toward us thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give us a future and a hope.’
Each afternoon, participants may enjoy a segment of a three-part, feature-length film, “Remember the Wife of Lot.”
There is no charge for admission, and no collection will be taken.
