PATTEN, Maine — Companies in the northern Penobscot and southern Aroostook areas looking to expand their business with federal, state and local opportunities are urged to attend a free informational session in Patten Thursday, May 25.

The seminar will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday, May 25, at the Patten Lumbermen’s Museum, 61 Shin Pond Road, Patten.

Maine Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) counselor Dana Delano will explain what it takes to sell to the government during the workshop, sponsored by Northern Maine Development Commission.

“Business owners looking to sell their products and services to government entities will learn how to register with the federal and state government, what the government is buying and much more,” said Delano. “With the new Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, there are many new opportunities for area businesses, but you will have to be registered to become a vendor with the federal government and understand the solicitation and bidding process”.

State, local and federal governments are a big consumer of products and services according to Delano.

“We want to assist local companies in obtaining these opportunities in order to grow their businesses,” he said.
