Rotary Club
This week, the Mars Hill Rotary Club met Tuesday morning, May 16 at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. The guest speaker was Sadie Shaw, guidance counselor at Central Aroostook Junio-Senior High School.
This year, said Shaw, 25 seniors will receive their diplomas on Friday, June 9. Nineteen of the students have been accepted at six different colleges, two are going into the Coast Guard and four are undecided.
Shaw spoke about the MELMAC Grant that the school has received for the past few years. This grant has allowed the school to work with the junior class on their future plans. They take college tours and visit colleges both locally and in southern Maine. There were 33 students who went on the tour this year.
She also follows up with the graduates for at least two years to help them stay on track.
