A man from Seal Harbor was arrested in Mapleton Monday evening after he was found passed out in a car and in possession of methamphetamine, according to the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies confronted Richard Kinney, 46, of Seal Harbor, on Monday night, following a report from a homeowner in Mapleton who said Kinney had parked in their driveway and appeared to be passed out.
The homeowner told deputies that they tried to wake up Kinney as he was parked near their home on Carvell Road and apparently asleep. When they eventually did wake him up, he drove into their driveway, parked and refused to leave, they told police.
Kinney was “slouched over in the driver’s seat” when deputies arrived, the sheriff’s office reported.
The deputies conducted a drug recognition assessment on Kinney and then charged him with operating under the influence of drugs.
They also said they seized about $200 worth of crystal methamphetamine from the vehicle and charged Kinney with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
Kinney was taken to the Aroostook County Jail, with bail set at $500 cash.
