The Mapleton Lions Club is preparing for the annual Memorial Day parade and remembrance ceremony. The parade will start lining up at 1:30 p.m. and will step-off at 2 p.m.
Organizations, groups and individuals who would like to march in the parade are welcome to join in during the lineup.
This year the Memorial Day parade marshal will be Jonathan Roark of Chapman, retired from the United States Navy.
The remembrance ceremony will be held at the Mapleton-Chapman-Castile Hill Veterans Memorial Monument at the Mapleton Elementary School. Everyone is welcome to attend to help remember and honor the sacrifices of the veterans from the three towns.
Mother-Daughter Tea
The kick-off event of the year for the Haystack Historical Society in Mapleton will be the annual Mother-Daughter Tea, to be held at the museum on Saturday, June 3, 2017.
All mothers and daughters, as well as grandmothers and granddaughters, are invited to attend and enjoy a delicious selection of sandwiches, fruits and sweets, as well as have the opportunity to explore the museum, which houses a number of historical items and artifacts from the towns of Mapleton, Castle Hill and Chapman.
The main event at the tea will be a crafts learning session led by Lisa Shepherd from New Hampshire. She taught very successful and enjoyable craft workshops at the museum last year. The cost is $10 per adult and free to all children attending with their mothers or grandmothers.

Pie and coffee sale
The Haystack Historical Society’s next event is its annual homemade pie and coffee sale, slated Saturday, June 24,during Mapleton Daze. Patrons visiting the museum between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. will have the opportunity to enjoy a slice of pie and coffee during their visit.
Visitors will be able to purchase a slice of pie from 20 or more varieties, which can be topped off with homemade ice cream. What better way can one enjoy a warm summer day?
The Haystack Historical Society welcomes everyone to the museum, which is free to visit, but for a small charge more a slice of pie with homemade ice cream will make your day.
Mapleton Seniors Food Sale
The Mapleton, Chapman and Castle Hill Seniors will host a food sale to raise funds for North Africa Famine Relief on Monday, May 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The sale will be held at the Mapleton Methodist Church on the Memorial Day Parade route.
All sorts of homemade baked goods will be available for purchase including cookies, rolls, brownies and other sweet treats.
DAZE needs you
