MADAWASKA LAKE, Maine — The 37th annual Madawaska River Run on Sunday, May 21, 2017, saw a record turnout of contestants, with 116 entries in the 10 classes.
Results were:
Class A, single person racing kayak or canoe: David McCrossin, 1:00:03; Class B, two-person recreational canoe over 16 feet, 6 inches: eight entries, no times; Class C, century combined ages of 100 or more: Bub and Kristi Anderson, 1:37:20; Class D, two-person recreational canoe under 16 feet, 6 inches: Robert and Keenan Masse, 1:32:13; Class E, mixed recreational canoe open: four entries, no times.
Class F, women’s recreational canoe open: one entry, no time; Class G, junior division 16 years old and under canoe, Jesse Taggett and Rylan Masse, 1:32:32; Class J, junior division 16 years or under kayak, Lane Carmichael, 1:55:29; Class K, men’s kayak one person: first, Thomas Beckum, 1:09:23; second, Barrett Fisher, 1:15:03; and third, Steve Gray, 1:19; and Class L, ladies’ kayak one-person: first, Kendra Furber, 1:19; second, Kristi Page, 1:31:57; and third, Sadie LaPointe, 1:33:02.
Paul Larson won the kayak raffle. Perkins-Plourde Post 133 of the American Legion in Stockholm sponsored the race.
