CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Public Library Archives and Special Collections contain numerous unidentified photographs of WWI military personnel. Many of these pictures are “orphaned,” meaning a donor has submitted an old family photo without identifying the subject.
This photograph is of an unknown sailor from Caribou during WWI. He is wearing a traditional naval “flat hat” revealing just a portion of the ship’s or submarine’s name, “SEA—.”
Here is where Aroostook Republican readers can help. If you recognize this young sailor in the photograph, please contact Anastasia Weigle, the director of the Caribou Public Library, at 207-493- 4214 or email us at librarydirector@cariboumaine.org.
