PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Cecile ‘Jackie’ Ann (Roy) Berube, 80, the sweetest and dearest mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and wife passed away peacefully on June 1, 2017, with her family by her side. She was born Dec. 12, 1936, in Lynn, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Alfred and Exelina Roy.
She married the love of her life, Fred L. Berube, on November 20, 1955, and was happily married for 61 years. As an Army wife, she traveled the country and was a Korean War Veteran Associate member of the Presque Isle Chapter 292. Cecile dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family as a stay-at-home mom. She was a loving wife and mother; however, her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored. Cecile was a devout Catholic and a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Presque Isle. Her other delights in life included playing bingo and cards, doing puzzles, riding in the North Maine Woods, and attending family gatherings and barbecues. She also loved Princess, her cherished cat.
Jackie, as her friends and family affectionately called her, exemplified courage when faced with medical hurdles during her lifetime. Through it all, she remained true to her character and persevered through many challenges. She embraced life and greeted everyone with a benevolent smile, kind eyes, and warm laughter. Nothing delighted her more than to be encircled by the warm embrace of her great-grandchildren’s arms.
She is survived by her loving husband, Fred L. Berube of Presque Isle; six children, Pat McCrea and her husband John of Fort Fairfield, Sue Maynard and her husband Jeff of South Casco, Dee Levesque and her husband Tony of Fort Fairfield, Anita Barnes and her husband Larry of Presque Isle, Donna Berube of Limestone, and Fred Berube Jr. of Caribou; grandchildren, Kim McCrea Dorsey of Fort Fairfield, Kiersten Charest of Buxton, Alyssa, Aleah, and Austin Maynard all of South Casco, Tim Levesque of Belfast, Andrew Levesque of Ft. She was predeceased by her son, Louis Berube; sisters, Terry Rouleau, Florence Roy, Genevive Boyd; and brothers, Raymond and Alfred Roy.
