ASHLAND, Maine – Albert B. MacDonald, 85, passed away peacefully June 6, 2017, surround by his loving wife and family. He was born October 17, 1931 in Oxbow, a son of the late George and Isa (Anderson) MacDonald.
He was raised in Oxbow and went on to work over 37 years with Great Northern Paper Co., where he held many positions. Albert was a long-time member of the Masons, Pioneer Lodge, Ashland. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 59 years, Janis (Searway) MacDonald of Ashland; three children, Gene MacDonald and his wife Karen of Masardis, Cheryl O’Clair and Greg MacDonald, both of Ashland; two sisters, Ada Lovley of Benton and Ann Tripp and her husband Sidney of Gray; a brother, Dean MacDonald of Houlton; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, Albert is predeceased by three brothers, Chester, James and Dana MacDonald, and two sisters, Ruth McKean and Alice Rafford.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the Ashland Congregational Church, Sheridan Rd., Ashland, with Pastor Nathan Gardiner officiating.
