CARIBOU, Maine & CHICOPEE, Mass. – Richard John Plante, 53, died April 24, 2017 at Baystate Hospital in Springfield, MA after a lifelong battle with kidney disease. Ritchie was born in Bristol, PA February 21, 1964, the son of Armond and Betty Plante.
Richard was a member of the 1985 class at Caribou High School. Due to illness his working years were short. His interests were his Camaro, music and movies, working on his friend Everett’s stock car and racing at Spud Speedway.
Richard was valiant in keeping as healthy as he could. Three days a week were his days of dialysis he called them going to work days. Our family thanks the angel nurses at his unit; the doctors who were special to him, Drs. O’Shea, Braden and Lipkowitz. To Chris, his charge nurse for 20 plus years, thank you from Mom, Scott and Mike.
He is survived by his daughter Kristy Marie Plante Cintron and her husband Daniel, his only grandson Daniel, Kristy’s mom Jill, his mother Betty, his two brothers, Scott Plante, Michael Plante and his wife Linda, his niece Angela and her children Alex & Zoey, his nephew Christopher, his niece Pamala and her children Ryan & Jared, his aunts Darlene Levesque, Claudine Cyr, Peggy Brown, uncles Jim, Kendall and Philip Ouellette, Roger Plante and his wife Bonnie, many cousins and his friends Todd (his “other brother” and Michele Asslyn, Randy, Kim, Kevin, Mark and Jordey. Ritchie was predeceased by his dad Armond, his aunt Anita Malenfant, grandparents Emmanuel and Ethelyn Plante, Emile and Albertine Ouellette, and his step-dad Ken Dunn.
A graveside service will be June 24, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Old Holy Rosary Cemetery with Father Alex officiating. All are invited to attend. Following the service a time of continued fellowship and refreshments will be held at the American Legion Home on Main St., Caribou. Please dress casually.
