RUTH SIROIS, BALLSTON SPA, NY – Ruth Sirois, 90, died June 15, 2017, at the home of her daughter in Ballston Spa, New York. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, the only daughter of Edna (Lange) and Leon Schamberger. She graduated from Sewanhaka High School, Floral Park, NY, in 1943. She married James H. Trewin on August 5, 1944. They moved upstate, where they raised three daughters and a son.
While caring for her family, she attended college, graduating with a BS in biology and secondary education from SUNY New Paltz in 1965. She and her second husband, Warren Stebner, purchased land in Monticello, ME, and built a log home overlooking a small lake. Ruth loved her lake, woods, and her dogs, spending many hours walking with her dogs in the woods. She married her third husband, Clayton Sirois, on July 3, 1988. Together they traveled across Canada to Alaska, twice. They traveled to Texas each year to avoid the Maine winters.
Ruth is survived by daughters, Judith Trewin of Annapolis, Maryland, and Susan Balogh of Ballston Spa, New York; son, Peter Trewin of Manhattan, New York; grandson, James Ogden (Catherin) of Ballston Spa; great grandchildren, Lynne and William Ogden. She was predeceased by her daughter, Nancy Trewin, and all her husbands.
