Second-grade students at Easton Elementary School hosted a Bears and Bots presentation for parents and senior citizens on Monday, May 22. The class read two Chickadee Award Nominees, ”Land Shark” By Beth Ferry, the 2017 Chickadee Award Winner, and “Hippos are Huge!” by Jonathan London.

The third-grade class from EES was able to team up with the Outdoor Pursuit II class from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. They worked on survival skills to go along with the book they read called “Stone Fox.” Participating were, from left, Julianah Willette, Chloe Blackstone, Olivia Bate, Lilah Pelkey, Raiden Cochran, Kirsten Wilcox, Owen Henderson, Ashton Embelton and Kaeleigh Swanson. The library received a grant from Perloff Family Foundation in the fall of 2016. The Perloffs donated five Bee Bots. These small robots teach the beginning stages of computer programming, incorporating a lesson and teamwork.

Through another grant, the Cole Land Transportation Museum donated 25 Kindle Fire 5’s  this spring. Students demonstrated how to use Quiver Vision, a 3D color app, and other apps.

Third grade visits UMPI

The third-grade class from EES was able to team up with the Outdoor Pursuit II class from the University of Maine at Presque Isle one recent day.

They worked on survival skills to go along with a book they read called “Stone Fox.” The students made a shelter, learned how to start a fire in the snow, enjoyed hot chocolate, went on a snowshoe hike around the forest, and listened to one of the UMPI students talk about winter survival skills.
