Katlyn Jandreau of Caribou, an eighth-grader, holds Rebecca the cat at the Halfway Home Pet Rescue.
Jandreau has given the gift of foster care to help feral cats this summer along with her mother, Nicol Soucy. Jandreau has proven to have unique abilities to calm and care for the scared young cats not yet completely socialized at the adoption center. Rebecca came to the rescue barely 5 months old and pregnant. She was hisses and claws for a short time, but once she became adjusted to Jandreau she calmed down, allowed some contact and now feels comfortable and safe in Jandreau’s arms. Rebecca’s medical work is completed and she is ready for a new home. She is not recommended for very young, active children. HHPR needs Friskies and Fancy Feast canned food. Items can be dropped off at Beaulieu’s garage, the thrift store at 31 Herschel St., the adoption center at 489 Main St or at 11 Pioneer Ave. in Caribou. (Contributed photo)
